Marines tell it like it is...With some hurrahs too

I found this on a cool Yahoo! Group post:

"Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the
other day and you have to read his reply to the lady who interviewed
him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about
gun laws you gotta love this!

This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a
portion of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female
broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was sponsoring
a Boy Scout Troop he brought to his military base.

FEMALE REPORTER:
So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these
young boys while they're visiting your base?

GENERAL REINWALD:
We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, and shooting.

FEMALE REPORTER:
Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL REINWALD:
Not at all, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE REPORTER:
Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be
teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD:
No we are very safety conscious and will be teaching them proper
rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE REPORTER:
But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD:
Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not
one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.

You gotta love the Marines!"

Way too cool! I like people who shoot you straight, say what they mean and cut the bullshit. Maybe even show you how stupid you are being. I guess even the reporter was straight....Even with the leading questions. Ugh. Gun safety saves lives, especially when children are put into a situation with a gun (oh it will happen!). They will know how to handle themselves, know the dangerous end, and either grab an adult, unload the gun or leave. As you know, people kill with ANY tool including poison, gas, nylons, phone cords.... Whatever! (Gun control is being able to hit your target!) Anyway, Hunters Safety courses should be part of every school curriculum. Even if they just use BB or pellet guns as was in the course I took LONG ago. Kids don't know the danger if you hide them from it. I remember some kids on my block as a child, that played with live bullets on their GI Joe costumes one year. My kid knows what a bullet looks like, and knows not to touch to get an adult. Hopefully the adult knows WTF is going on. Semper Fi!

This Office Worker stands ready to face the sands of time, he stands ready to face death. Man, is he gonna get spanked! (Does Death look impressed?)
Death- "Right then, one Office Worker decapitated stat."

poem

The Message

My words to you
Are the mixed voices
Of a choir

My works
Are far between
But they stand ready

My hopes and dreams
Are not so empty
As you might imagine

The beauty in the tears
Of sincere eyes
They speak a message

Look into my eyes
And beyond the darkness
You will see...

We all have strange paths to follow.... right Leia?
Vulcan Greeting

The Calling

It has always been difficult to explain to those who don't understand, what the warrior path is. I frequently am frustrated trying to explain my interests, and also find those with an equal level of interest. I have attended many schools over the years, but none have really felt like a perfect fit. The closest would be the Talon, although I caused my own problems there. I really really really wish that I felt at home at the current school I am interested in however; a lot of the students there work together and seem to have really deep relationships and have a closeness that I feel somewhat isolated by. It is by far, the best school hands down. I have trouble staying motivated to go, it's a long drive, and my training partner keeps getting pulled away. Also, they have that closeness which was very intimidating at first. I do things to keep up my training, stay current, read articles and books. Lately I have noticed that I am still in really good shape, and that I'd like to keep it that way. I'm hoping to join a conventional gym, and get my overall fitness balanced and in gear. I am always struggling with our society's perspective on the warriors path. It is either corny movie rambo/xxx action, or hokey I-wish-I-were-a-samurai or a native American. I don't knock those cultures as I am very interested in both... Merely longing for a culture our own that isn't hundreds of years old. It is a difficult calling, and I walk it. Sometimes I get off the path, or go backwards, but I am always feeling the intense calling. Martial Arts is really the only part of our culture that feeds that part of me. I suppose knowing that, and also neglecting that aspect has left me famished. Does a starving man cut his own throat when he is hungry?

Every employee knows shit rolls downhill... right?
Vulcan Greeting

When Bosses Attack!!!

Shit rolls downhill.
Do you accept that statement? Sure is difficult to swallow. Maybe with some Jam? Nope still hard to swallow. So, your boss gets his ass chewed, he/she grimaces, then looks for some ass to chew as well.
What happened to personal accountability?!
How many of you laughed when you read that? Well, I'm not laughing. If a person gets in trouble, gets talked to, slapped on the wrist. Why grumble, why get angry and resist or lash out? Just take it like a man.
I am human. I grumble, feel targeted, unjustly punished. But for the love of heck, if I know without any doubt that I got busted for a legit reason I just shrug and go ok. Give me my medicine.
Side note* If I am wrongly punished or whatever, I bitch and fight like hell to make my side clear. Sometimes I even whine, and throw a tantrum.
Anyway, personal accountability. Deny, play dumb? Yeah how can you do that when you know you're busted? Sometimes you think "I'll cut some corners do the job so-so, and I'm done." Well, get caught half-assing same deal: You are busted!
Yeah, I'm bitching cuz I'm expecting the shit to roll downhill for something I DIDN'T DO. My faith in personal accountability is slim.
I was a boss once. If my ass got chewed for someone else's laziness, you bet I'd chew some ass. Chew it hard like dry beef jerky. Thoroughly until its soft pliable ass, ready for swallowing.
Anyone have any input?
Plus when you know the hammer is gonna fall, but don't know when.... it sucks. At least I can plan my defense. Only good thing about it. Well, back to work!

These girls dare to be different. Love you! This guy has issues, but he is different too... http://www.blackmarketkittens.com/gallery/album03?page=1
Vulcan Greeting

"Raise your freak flag high! Yeah!*"

Bonus points to those whom knows the author of the title to this article.*

Anyways, this article is in praise of those of us who dare to be different. Yes, those of us who tire of the current fashion trends or political trends or religious trends. Those of us who have always known they were the black sheep or the ugly duckling. A shout out to the blind woman who takes tickets at the movies! Freak! But I love you.
Stephen Chow is one of these... Different..... People. And is it awesome. I love kung fu movies, and hoped dearly that Kung Fu Hustle would be a new addition to my short list of PorkChop approved.
It is!
ButtonSpider ( I think? sorry bro if I'm wrong) told me he really enjoyed it and so did my brother. Peoples opinions I trust. CrAsH and I went to see Black Mask with Jet Li the nite it came out. We were the only ones in the theatre... How did they know? It sucked. Sorry Jet Li, I like Lethal Weapon 4 very much! Me and WinterDragon went to see Kung Fu Hustle and we almost hurt ourselves laughing. Not only does it offer some excellent eclectic kung fu, like Iron Ring, but it offers some non-Hollywood humor. The humor is foreign, but no translator is needed. The story is even very different from current fare, I won't spoil it here but what a breath of fresh air. My explainations may sound corny, but they are sincere.
Sammo Hung offered up some of the combat choreography so it was solid. I don't know anything about Stephen Chow, but apparently he wrote, directed and starred in it. My hat is off to you.
Those of you out there who give popular culture a wide birth, stay your course! Avoid it like a Pirate ship avoids the British Navy. Take no prisoners, arrrr harrrr!

Some different people I admire (yes all freak flag bearers):

-Ezra Pound, the poly-lingual Japanese loving poet. No one even comes close to the depth and genuineness of his poetry.
-Robert Heinlein, the culture shaping visionary of Sci Fi. He invented many things in his writing we utilize today. Way ahead of his time even still! His death tore me up. He was persecuted for throwing forth ideas like socialism, group marriage, and other outrageous things. Stranger in a strange land is considered his masterpiece by many who don't understand it. Grok?
-My many friends, who inspire me and renew my hope in humanity.
So many personal things I could write here....
-Highwayman, an name so appropriate but so inappropriate. My beer salutes you, for your sticking in and being yourself in a angry world.
-Michael D. Echanis, the combat expert navy seal and author. He changed my view on combat. Gave me hope in the classic Korean arts. He died tragically before the zenith of his career. He inspires me.

Be yourself, and wisely give love and support to those in your life who are different. It's a rough road, takes strength to walk the lonely path. Takes discipline to not be swayed or tempted to give in to society's popular culture love. I'm not boasting here, merely giving a perspective that I have learned the hard way. Believe me, the solo freak is someone to admire and support. I didn't always, but do now.
Anyone know the Author to the title of this article?
The few who do, I love you you freak.
